Feline Nutrition Expert

Tapping into over a century of combined expertise from Friskies and Purina, Nestlé Purina PetCare offers an impressive portfolio of diets to maintain pet health and to manage pets with certain health conditions. Nestlé Purina scientists develop new ideas both independently and by collaborating with experts in selected research areas either within Nestlé or at leading universities and institutions worldwide.

Our global network of scientists, including those working at the leading edge of technology at Nestlé, makes Nestlé Purina a unique pet food company. We have scientists devoted to pet food research in Lausanne, Switzerland; Amiens, France; and in three locations in Missouri, USA: St. Louis, St. Joseph, and Gray Summit.

At these centres, veterinarians, nutritionists and other scientists work together to develop and analyse new concepts in carefully designed feedings studies with cats. The beneficial impact of maintaining urinary pH between pH 6.3 and 6.6 for healthy cats in order to promote urinary tract health, and feeding diabetic cats a diet high in protein and low in carbohydrate to help manage glucose levels are just some examples of our research areas.

Groundbreaking discoveries in feline nutrition help us to develop innovative new products and make important advances in cat health and well-being. Our research programmes and nutritional strategies are designed to find ways to advance the lives of pets.

Veterinarians and scientists specialising in fields such as nutrition, molecular biology, nutritional biochemistry, microbiology, immunology and protein and lipid metabolism to help drive innovative science behind the range of PURINA VETERINARY DIETS™. These diets help the veterinarian nutritionally support his overall treatment of a wide range of conditions such as obesity, food allergies, diabetes, and urinary tract disorders.

Nestlé Purina scientists study the nutritional content of food in relation to cats’ needs and assess the palatability and digestibility of food. Nutritionists, veterinarians, palatability experts, and animal care technicians work closely with cats to learn ways to promote the lifelong health and wellbeing of pets.
